We’re celebrating Apple’s 50th birthday with a week of content about the tech giant. It covers everything from personal recollections from our writers to the greatest — and worst — Apple gadgets as voted by you, and you can read it all on our 50 years of Apple page.
Over the years I’ve owned iMacs and iPhones, iPods and iPads, MacBooks, and now a Mac mini — but even so, I wouldn’t describe myself as an Apple fanboy. No, I’m just a lover of great technology, and when Apple gets it right, it gets it very right.
Despite my long history with the brand, though, I’ve barely touched the surface of the many hundreds of devices it’s released over a half century since it was formed on 1 April 1976, and I doubt I’m unusual in that regard.

After all, Apple has done a lot in those 50 years, some of it great, some good, some best forgotten — but all a part of tech history.
