The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E gets sportier and more affordable
Ford is giving its flagship EV a makeover, a better price, and more efficient components, in a bid to maintain its spot as the second best selling electric vehicle in America. Say hello to the 2025 Mustang Mach-E.
Unlike the 2024 model, this year’s Mach-E is not getting a range bump, but fortunately it doesn’t seem like it will be necessary. With an improved design, and some slick new tech, the refreshed Mach-E will likely stay popular among buyers for years to come.
First and foremost, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E is getting a standard heat pump, joining the F-150 Lightning Flash in the automaker’s lineup. Heat pumps can keep batteries at a more optimal temperature during the winter months, which helps with charging times, range, and performance. More EVs are coming with standard heat pumps as the auto industry begins to recognize their utility.
Ford smoothed out the exterior design with a brand new Sport Appearance Package that brings key styling cues from the GT version of its best-selling EV. That includes a new front fascia and grille shield, as well as front Brembo-branded brake calipers that have been painted red. Ford also tossed in 19-inch Monochromatic High-Gloss Black-Painted wheels and black-painted door cladding and wheel lips for good measure.
Inside, you’ll find red accent stitching and sport pedals for added sportiness. Ford added ventilated front seats as standard on Premium models of the Mach-E. And it replaced the center-mounted dial shifter with a column-mounted shifter to free up console space.
The latest version (1.5) of Ford’s hands-free advanced driver assist system, Blue Cruise, debuts with the 2025 Mach-E. The version adds Automatic Lane Change to its repertoire, which Ford says will automate “up to 45% of lane changes on an average drive, based on internal testing.”
The system will change lanes “without driver input,” meaning it will initiate a lane change if the vehicle ahead is slower than the set speed or if a vehicle is following too closely in the passing lane. BlueCruise will be available as a monthly or annual subscription for the 2025 Mustang Mach-E.
And the cherry on top is the new, more affordable price: $36,495, excluding incentives and tax credits. That’s cheaper than the base Tesla Model Y, which is the best-selling EV in the US ahead of the Mach-E, and starts at $44,490. That should help Ford maintain its status in the rankings — or perhaps even improve its standings.
