Reddit is experiencing a major outage
Reddit appears to be down for many right now. The site will regularly take a while to try to load a page before showing an error screen with error code 503. Pages are loading more frequently than when I first published this story, but I see the error page often.
Downdetector showed more than 40,000 user reports of issues at their peak. Reports look to be dipping just slightly.
Reddit acknowledges there is an issue on its status page, though the first message on the page is somewhat vague and suggests that there have been problems with the site for more than an hour. “We’re experiencing an elevated level of API errors and are currently looking into the issue,” Reddit wrote at 5:04PM ET.
However, the company said that “the issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented” in a message posted at 6:51PM ET. And on Twitter, the company assured users that its “team of Technical People” is working on the issues.
Sounds like some of you are experiencing issues accessing Reddit — fear not, our team of Technical People is working on it!
Pls don’t shoot the messenger,

This isn’t Reddit’s first recent outage — the site went down for almost an hour in May. And Reddit was also taken down by the huge global web outage in June that also affected sites like Amazon, Twitch, and even us here at The Verge. That outage was caused by issues with the Fastly content delivery network.
Update June 24th, 7PM ET: Added new information from Reddit and that the site seems to be loading pages more frequently.
