Today’s search celebrates the brand names that became so popular that they ended up being the word we all used to describe them.

Many of these products became so ubiquitous that people didn’t know they were brands in the first place — that is certainly the case for me and DUMPSTER. And, of course once the TRADEMARK runs out any big metal trash can manufacturer can call their product a DUMPSTER.
Seeing the letter Z got me off to a flyer today and along with the theme I immediately guessed what we were searching for; that didn’t stop attempting to submit SMORE, though.

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a fully fledged member of the NYT’s games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
