Steve and Alex from Minecraft are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 13th, and here are their moves

Nintendo revealed on Thursday that Steve and Alex from Minecraft will be added to the character roster in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch, and now we’re getting the full reveal: they’ll arrive on October 13th, and there’s a whole video you can watch where longtime Smash series director Masahiro Sakurai shows off their new moves, including the ability to build your own platforms out of blocks! See it above.
The video reveals that you’ll effectively have six different Minecraft characters to choose from, because Steve and Alex have three different skins each:

Plus, there’s a Zombie and an Enderman at around 4 min into the video. You’ll be able to harvest materials from the walls and ground with your various tools to craft upgrades on the fly, and the materials you get depend on the stage: a Star Fox level will get you a lot of iron, for instance.
What Kirby looks like after swallowing Steve or Alex is also pretty cool:

This is the second character announcement in the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 DLC that’s available for $29.99, following Min Min from Arms, but you can also nab the Minecraft pack for $5.99 on its own. Mii fighters can also dress up as a Creeper, a Pig, or wear some Diamond Armor with new costumes that cost $0.75 each. (There are new Bomberman and Travis Touchdown costumes, too.)
In the original presentation (see video below), a brief preview showed off Steve in action, playing in a special Minecraft-themed stage. The game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, explained following the announcement that Steve and the blocky Minecraft style presented a big challenge for the team. He said, “We have to rework all our existing stages so that blocks can be placed in them.”
If for some reason you haven’t jumped into the game yet, the first Fighters Pass, available as an add-on for $24.99, added a slew of interesting characters to its already-packed roster. You’ll get Dragon Quest XI’s hero, Banjo-Kazooie, Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Joker from Persona 5, and Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard.
You can rewatch the original announcement below (skip to 29:42 for the action).
