The Big Lebowski

The Big Lebowski was created and directed Joel and Ethan Coen (Fargo, No Country For Old Men, True Grit) and it’s earned cult classic status over the years. Like many movies from the famous brothers, The Big Lebowski defies genre, but we think it’s best described as a noir mystery crime thriller meets comedy.
It follows the story of a man called Jeffrey ‘The Dude’ Lebowski (played by Jeff Bridges), a laidback guy who lives his life without a care in the world. However, his relaxed lifestyle gets turned upside down when he’s mistakenly caught up in a kidnapping gone awry. The Big Lebowski is an incredibly funny, dark, bizarre and truly joyful movie to watch. Oh, and it’s endlessly quotable, too.
The Fifth Element
Release date: April 1
Main cast: Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman, Chris Tucker
RT score: 71%
The Fifth Element is set in the 23rd century and follows the story of Korben Dallas (played by Bruce Willis), a cab driver whose drawn into an adventure of cosmic proportions when a mysterious young woman (Milla Jovovich) falls into his cab. Together they go on a quest to find four mystical stones that are pivotal in protecting the Earth against an evil alien entity.
What follows is a vibrant and totally unforgottable adventure from French director Luc Besson (Leon and Lucy) that’s a must-see for fans of science-fiction. Not only is the story thrilling, but there’s top acting from Willis and Jovovich here, as well as stunning set and costume design from Jean-Paul Gaultier. It’s colorful, bold and oozing with utterly bonkers action sequences.
Ocean’s Eleven
Release date: April 1
Main cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia

Ocean’s Eleven is a stylish movie from acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh. It follows the story of friends Danny Ocean (played by George Clooney) and Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), who meticulously plan a heist of millions of dollars from Terry Benedict (Andy García), the owner of a popular casino and the boyfriend of Ocean’s ex-wife Tess (Julia Roberts).
Ocean’s Eleven is a highly entertaining crime caper that we recommend to anyone looking for a smart but easy watch. It’s fast-paced and incredibly witty thanks to a combination of excellent writing, slick editing and some fantastic acting, especially from Clooney.
X2: X-Men United
Release date: April 1
Main cast: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen

X2: X-Men United, also known as X2 or X-Men 2, is Bryan Singer’s 2003 sequel to the original X-Men movie and it’s loosely based on the graphic novel God Loves, Man Kills. It’s generally considered better than the original, X2: X-Men United with a strong story, awesome action scenes and great acting from a cast of beloved actors.
In X2: X-Men United, Colonel William Stryker (played by Brian Cox) breaks into Professor Xavier’s school in an attempt to create his own version of the mutant-tracking computer Cerebro so he can destroy every mutant on Earth. To save the mutant race, the X-Men must join forces with the Brotherhood of Mutants, led by Magneto. Little Women
Release date: April 22
Main cast: Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Timothée Chalamet

The version of Little Women that’s coming to Hulu this month is the 2019 adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s book of the same name with a fresh take on the classic story thanks to stellar cast of young talent, including Florence Pugh and Timothée Chalamet.
Based in part on Louisa May Alcott’s own childhood, Little Women is about the March sisters, Amy, Beth, Jo and Meg, who live in Massachusetts in the 19th century. It tells the story of their lives as they grow up, find love, and try their best to follow their dreams and discover their place in the world. It’s heart-warming, inspiring and, at times, incredibly sad. If you’re looking for a family drama with a beloved story and characters, this is it.
The Meg
Release date: April 23
Main cast: Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Cliff Curtis
RT score: 47%
The Meg is an action-packed monster movie that follows the story of a crew trapped at the bottom of the Pacific who are being terrorized by a massive creature thought to be extinct, called the Megalodon. Jason Statham is the star of the show, playing Jonas Taylor, a deep sea diver tasked with rescuing them.
The Meg is a bit silly at times, but incredibly fun to watch too – assuming you don’t mind some jump scares. Don’t go in expecting the thrills and top film-making of Jaws, but it’s not as ridiculous as Sharknado, especially if you’re just looking for a fast-paced romp that’s essentially Statham vs. huge shark.
