Lenovo Googlebook leaks reveal a laptop and 2-in-1 tablet
Lenovo is expected to release some of the first Googlebook models later this year, and leaked images have now given us a good idea of what they might look like. Leaked press images shared by Digital Citizen and Android Headlines include a laptop and a 2-in-1 tablet, all of which feature Googlebook branding on the keyboard.
This is the best look we’ve had at Google’s Chromebook successor since the Android-based Googlebook platform was announced in May. Details about the initiative remain sparse, but we know that Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo are lined up to release the first models sometime in Fall 2026. Googlebooks are also expected to ditch ChromeOS in favor of a new operating system, and Gemini AI will reportedly be baked into pretty much everything.
The Lenovo leaks look fairly similar to Lenovo’s existing Chromebook lineup, with a few exceptions. The Lenovo Googlebook laptop appears to be available in two sizes, and features a light strip on the back that resembles the glowing bar that appears on the official Googlebook renders that Google released earlier this year. The 2-in-1 tablet also includes a light bar on the rear camera housing — similar to the glowing orb that will reportedly feature on the upcoming Pixel 11 lineup.
The keyboards also include a new key on the bottom row that displays Google’s “G” branding. Digital Citizen reports that this is a dedicated hardware key to surface Gemini, but it’s worth noting that the keyboards also include a Quick Insert button where the cap lock key is — something that Chromebooks introduced to call up Gemini back in 2024.
