Proton Unlimited is on sale again, and I can’t recommend it enough: email, cloud storage, a password manager and a VPN – all private, all secure and all ad-free
I love it when a Proton Unlimited discount comes around. Whether you’re a new customer or a current subscriber, I very much recommend signing up or extending your plan.
Proton Unlimited is normally $12.99 (£10.39) per month but it’s down by 30% to $8.99 (£6.89) per month for a limited time. That makes a saving of $48 or £42 over the 12-month agreement, which is an excellent price.
And why do I like Proton Unlimited? Well, first it includes an excellent VPN that TechRadar rates as one of the best VPNs available. It’s extremely fast and very, very secure. I don’t notice it getting in the way of my internet speed and I have 100% certainty that Proton VPN keeps all my online activity completely private and unknown to my ISP or anyone else who might be trying to snoop on it.
And privacy is really why I’m recommending Proton Unlimited to you while this deal’s on. It’s a whole bundle of privacy-first tools. So, it’s not just the VPN. It’s the VPN, plus a private email service with no Big Tech company scanning your messages or advertising around your inbox.
That email, Proton Mail, also comes with an aliasing feature which means you can create some fake forwarding addresses to plug into websites and services that you sign up to. That way you can keep your real Proton Mail inbox clutter-free.
Between the VPN and Proton Mail, I think the Unlimited deal is really good value and, quite honestly, I’m not a big user of all the other features. I’m still a little bit stuck in the Google ecosystem.
That said, a lot of Proton’s alternatives weren’t available when I first signed up, and it’s a slightly different story now.
There are Proton office apps for all the majors that most people will need. That includes Proton Drive (500 GB of encrypted storage), Proton Pass (a secure password manager with built-in 2FA), Proton Docs, Proton Sheets, Proton Meet and Proton Calendar.
So, you really can make the switch away from Big Tech now. And if that’s something you’ve been itching to do, then this discount is a good moment to do it.
Proton hasn’t said how long the deal will last. My best guess is about a month but it could be as little as a week, and we won’t see the price get down this low until Black Friday 2027 in all likelihood.
If you’re still not sure, go and take a look at our reviews (linked above) or have a read around the Proton site and see what you think. Like I say, I can’t speak highly enough of it.
