There’s another sign that the Trump phone might actually be launching — though it’s not clear when
- The Trump Mobile T1 has passed through the FCC
- It’s a sign that we may eventually see a launch
- The handset was announced back in July 2025
Cast your mind back to June 2025 and you might remember the announcement of the Trump Mobile T1 Phone, apparently “made in the USA” and endorsed by the White House. Since then, we’ve heard very little about the handset, but it seems it’s still on the way.
Full marks to Dominic Preston at The Verge, who has been patiently monitoring the progress (or lack of it) around the Trump phone. In a new article, he reports that he’s discovered a filing for the phone with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The filing doesn’t tell us much about the handset, but does indicate that it’s coming – FCC approval is something that all gadgets must get if they want to go on sale in the United States. It’s not quite a guarantee that we’ll see the Trump T1 soon, but it’s something.

As Preston reports, the filing lists the manufacturer of the phone as Smart Gadgets Global, a company with a bare bones website. The terms and conditions page on said site simply lists instructions for how to write terms and conditions – which fits in with the shambolic nature of the Trump phone project so far.
‘American-proud’

As we’ve heard so little about the Trump phone since it was announced, there have been genuine doubts that the handset would ever go on sale – even though $100 deposits for it have been taken from customers (it’s not clear how many). The phone was originally slated to launch in August 2025, though that clearly hasn’t happened.
Head to the Trump Mobile website and you’ll see you can still put down $100 for your own Trump phone, though at this stage we wouldn’t recommend it. Note that it’s now “American-proud” rather than “made in the USA” as well.
Hopes that the product actually is real were raised last month when two Trump Mobile executives showed off the handset over a video call with Preston — but since then they’ve apparently been ignoring his emails.

We’ve previously heard from analysts who are doubtful that the Trump T1 is ever going to see the light of day, but as we approach eight months since the originally promised launch date, there are still some signs that will eventually be in the hands of users.
