Apple TV getting a 50% discount is my pick for the best Black Friday streaming deal in Australia so far
When Black Friday deals arrive, it’s the perfect time to grab top Christmas gift ideas or upgrade your home coffee setup to save money in the new year. However, it’s also the best time to save on less obvious items like streaming services.
While Binge is offering a month of streaming for just AU$2.99 until December 8, the better Black Friday streaming deal is for Apple TV, with the recently renamed service (the ‘Plus’ is gone) now available for half price for a limited time only.
New and returning customers can get Apple TV for just AU$7.99 p/m for the first six months – a 50% saving – with this offer ending December 1. After the six-month period, the subscription reverts to the usual AU$15.99 monthly price. Even at full price, I personally think it’s the best streaming service in Australia.
Getting a good deal is one thing, but when that discount lets you immediately watch top-tier TV like Ted Lasso, Shrinking or finally binge season 2 of Severance, the savings feel even better.
There’s plenty more on offer, too – like Pluribus. Directed by Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan, it broke Severance’s record for the biggest drama launch with its first two episodes – and I feel comfortable calling it the current best show on TV.
I seriously can’t overstate how good some of the content on Apple TV is. While platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus all have hit series like The Bear or The Boys, they miss a lot more than they hit. Every Apple TV show might not be the best you’ve ever seen, but their quality over quantity shines through.
Simply put, Apple has a bigger budget to spend on its content. This investment attracts top-tier writers, producers, directors and – perhaps most importantly – actors. No matter what you’re into, Apple boasts multiple series that are the best of the best of their kind.
If you want a laugh, I’d direct you to The Studio, Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Looking for edge-of-your-seat drama? Try Slow Horses, Black Bird, Presumed Innocent and Disclaimer. If you don’t mind some sci-fi, then try Pluribus, Severance, Silo and For All Mankind, and that’s just a start.
We’ve got names like Seth Rogen, Cate Blanchett, Gary Oldman, Jake Gyllenhaal and more in the forenamed series alone that turn what might have been a mediocre show into something special.
The ability to watch one of them, let alone all of them, for just AU$7.99 p/m – and a total cost of less than AU$50 over six months – is a deal not to be missed. Hurry, though, as this offer will end on Cyber Monday, which is December 1.
