Casio’ new ring watch straps a durable G-Shock to your finger
After bringing its novel digital ring watch to the US last December, Casio has announced a new version debuting later this year. Although the original was loosely based on the Casio GMW-B5000, the new wearable is inspired by the iconic DW-5600, and this time Casio’s ring watch fully embraces the G-Shock branding and ethos with a resin strap and band making it extra durable.
As with last year’s CRW001, the new Casio G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 is launching in Japan first in November 2025 in black, red, and yellow for 14,300 yen, or around $94, which is significantly cheaper than the previous model. The wearable has also appeared on Casio’s websites in France, Germany, and the Netherlands where it’s set for a November release and priced at €99.90, or around $115. It’s expected to come to the US as well, but those details aren’t known yet.
It’s not as flashy as Casio’s first ring watch that was eventually released in a gold finish, too, but the Nano DWN-5600 comes with one welcome upgrade. The original’s band wasn’t adjustable and relied on a pair of included spacers to help it fit smaller fingers. The new version features a traditional strap full of holes that can be adjusted from 48mm to 82mm in size to accommodate more users.
The G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 is otherwise functionally identical to last year’s model with a six-segment LCD screen showing the time, a stopwatch, a calendar, and an LED light behind the screen that flashes when an alarm goes off. Three buttons on the side of the case are used to switch modes, activate the LED, or set the time.
The Nano DWN-5600 is also water-resistant to depths of 200 meters, so you won’t have to take it off in the shower. It’s powered by a replaceable battery that’s good for two years, but Casio recommends using the company’s battery replacement services to ensure the ring watch’s waterproofing is compromised in the process.
