007 First Light – everything we know so far

007 First Light may not have been fully revealed yet, but there is a lot to look forward to from the upcoming James Bond game from IO Interactive. We don’t have a lot of information regarding a release date, but we know we’ll be hearing more very soon.
So far, we’ve only had two short teaser trailers that doesn’t show any gameplay, but the official website confirms that the story is about James Bond’s origins and it’ll be “completely original”. That means IO Interactive won’t be borrowing stories from previous James Bond movies or books. That said, we also know for a fact that Project 007 doesn’t feature actors from the films.
As a whole, 007 First Light is keeping its cards close to its chest when it comes to gameplay. We can almost certainly expect gunslinging in some form, but the precise details have yet to be revealed. We could be in for some classic first-person action in the vein of Goldeneye 007 for the N64. Alternatively, IO Interactive might opt for some third-person stealth mechanics in the tradition of their much-celebrated Hitman series. But, speculation aside, here’s what we know so far.

007 First Light potential platforms

There are no official details about when we can expect 007 First Light. Given we know that IO Interactive is still pulling together its development team, it could be a good while before the new James Bond title sees the light of day. Interestingly, the game was showcased during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event, so we now have one confirmed platform at least.
For now, we can also probably expect to see it launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, but we don’t know definitively. Given the seemingly far out release date, it seems unlikely that it’ll come to Xbox One or PS4.
007 First Light trailer
So far, IO Interactive has only provided us with two teaser trailers for Project 007 (now 007 First Light). They’re not much to go on, but it’s always charming to see a new take on the classic James Bond opening sequence.
